Create a badge

A badge is a digital recognition you award to your members to celebrate their achievements, participation, or engagement within your community.

Why it matters

• Recognizes members' engagement and achievements
• Strengthens recognition and loyalty within the community
• Can be paired with points and rewards to gamify the experience

Access badge creation

From the left-hand menu of Community Studio, click the Badges tab. On the "Badge Templates" page, click "+ Create a template".

Choose the badge type

Select the type of badge you want to create:

• Standard badge — ideal for recognition and achievements
• Attendance badge — for events and activities with dates
• Ticket badge — for events with seating and seat options

Click "Create" to continue.

Set up your badge

The creation form includes several elements:
1 — Title and description (required) Enter a title (100 characters max) and a description (2,000 characters max). A live preview of the badge appears in the panel on the right.
2 — The badge visual (required) Choose your badge's image in three ways:

• Select a file — upload your own image from your computer
• Browse the gallery — choose from a curated selection of images
• Generate with AI — automatically create a visual from a description

3 — Style Customize the badge's appearance: base tint, text color, overlay texture (33 patterns available), and whether to display your community's logo on the back of the badge.

Advanced settings

Expand the "Advanced settings" section to define:

• Points & Rewards — the point value awarded by the badge, with the option to require points to claim it
• Validity period — how long the badge stays valid ("Unlimited" by default)
• Earning criteria — the criteria members must meet to earn the badge

Finalize the badge

Once the content is filled in, you have two options:

• "Create (inactive)" — saves the template without activating it right away
• "Create & Activate" — saves the template and makes it immediately available in your community

Click "Cancel" to go back without saving your changes.

Good to know

Badge creation and AI generations are limited by a monthly quota, which resets on the 1st of each month (UTC).
